Hi there, I’m Laurie Darling.
Wife and mom of two boys. Licensed clinical psychologist. In 20 years of practice, I’ve had the honor of supporting so many people. But there’s only so much help I can be one-on-one.
I’m not trying to be a psychologist here, but I am a fellow believer, encouraging you in your walk, sharing proven cognitive-behavioral strategies, and providing resources along your journey. I have definitely felt the love of other Christians whose material I have read or listened to over the years. I endeavor to be one more voice in the fray, hoping to lift up one more person along the way – you!
My goal is to offer insights that I’ve gleaned from my own walk in Christ combined with practical psychological tools for growing in your faith and combatting challenges you may come against in your own thinking and daily life – all in an effort to deepen your relationship with God, build up your identity in Christ, and maintain a consistent, daily walk in the Spirit so you are strengthened and living abundantly.

Where This All Began
Two Scriptures inspired me to start Embracing 1010:
“‘The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly'” (John 10:10, WEB).
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness” (Col 2:6-7, NIV).
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Source of our identity, the Creator of the universe and Lover of our souls. He came so that we could have life; not just physical life, but Zoe life. In Greek, it conveys overall abundance and blessing, richness in Spirit, not material things. And as we understand God’s nature more deeply as well as our identity in Christ, we are empowered by him to steadfastly walk in the Holy Spirit, strengthened and overflowing with thankfulness. That’s the essence of Embracing 1010 and my prayer for you this day.
My Personal Disclaimer
Let me be the first to say it – I am NOT a pastor, nor do I have an advanced degree in theology. And even though I am a licensed clinical psychologist, I realize I’m not your psychologist. For what it’s worth, I’m on the same narrow path as you, my Christian brothers and sisters, trying to grow in my faith and walk with the Holy Spirit to be more like Jesus each and every day. And the more I learn in life, the more I realize how little I actually know.
There’s nothing that I could say that hasn’t already been said, and certainly said more eloquently, thoughtfully, accurately, or humorously. But I’ve got my own voice, and my own tone, and I believe God called me to this ministry right here (the workers are few, and the harvest is great), knowing that at least some of his children would be lifted up, encouraged, and supported by his Holy Spirit working in and through me.
So here I am, putting it out there. Please know that my goal is not to be an authority on Christianity; far from it, I have a lot to learn. And my viewpoint is not the only angle, it’s just one perspective in a myriad of others, all combining to create a beautiful landscape of life fashioned by the Giver of life. Thanks for letting me join you on your journey; I hope we can grow together, build the body of Christ, and glorify the One who loved us before the dawn of time.
It’s all for the Carpenter.
SDG, Laurie
